The Price of Life

Pretend you don’t exist

Unclench your little fist

Be silent if you want to live!

Give everything, just give, give, give!

Become a shadow, air!

Nobody here would care!

Become a little nameless thing!

Pretend their words they never sting!

Accept that you don’t matter!

Pretend your life’s unsheltered!

Pretend to question your whole being!

Cause these things here you’re not seeing!

You liked it, quite a lot!

The iron rod so hot.

With which they branded you so long

So you’d be theirs and be strong

In a hole pitch black

There was no turning back

You couldn’t move, you couldn’t talk

In your tears you were soaked

All this time you didn’t know

That you were free, so free to go

That all this time you could say no

That you could fight, return the blows

Just words created to subdue

Just words, so wicked and untrue

Just words, disguised as caring, love

That made you feel unworthy of

A prison of your mind

That makes you lag behind

That keeps you tame in the black hole

Just be there for them when they call

Finally you are aware

You’re right, it is unfair

A life for which you’ve paid so much

Breathe barely enough to be their crutch

It’s time to scream, to roar

It’s time to learn to soar

It’s time to wage your holy war

Cause there is more to life, there’s more!
